the SANCTUARY OF SELF
the art of living life to your fullest
Quebec city - Le Monastère des Augustines
October 2-6, 2024
limited to 19 participants
WHY I CREATED THIS retreat
Autumn is a time of transition.
It honors the recent busyness of a hot summer and hints at the cocooning of winter. The warming energy of changing colours speak of the vibrancy of transition and the duality of balance and change.
The shortening days and cooler nights inspire thoughts of cozy sweaters and a sense of anticipation for winter’s cocooning.
The impulse of my own rhythm shifts; I have a desire to go within, to find rest, contemplation and warmth. It's an in-between time, a time of both/and, a season of getting ready, a season of letting go.
Transition times are important times of grounding and self-acknowledgment.
A natural moment to pause, this season is perfect for playing with both deep intentional nurturing and our desire to balance.
It was on a search to do just that, that I found Le Monastère Des Augustines, a location steeped in deep healing traditions located in the heart of a vibrant, historical city. A wellness sanctuary, it perfectly captures this esprit d'Automne, as I prepare to settle into a calmer, introspective me.
From within the quiet walls or strolling down the busy cobblestone street of old town just outside the gates I found space to be thoughtful with how I expend my energy, to pace myself with grace, to consider what I balance and to deeply honour my life’s journey.
Ready to rebalance and reawaken? Come cradle yourself in a commitment to self-care, and connect with community.
IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
what you will explore
Blending Stop the teetering of trying to focus on too many things. Life balance needs the steadiness of knowing your Self at your centre and integrating your commitments into your whole life blend.
Relaxation and Rejuvenation Put yourself first on your list. Create a pause in your routine, step away from your screen and everyone else’s needs, and experience the sweet joy of being with your Self.
Awaken We forget that we too, like the seasons. go through cycles of renewal. Let’s pay attention to who we wish to emerge as. Take the time to stretch, breathe and reset your energy for the joy of winter to come.
Play Autumn is a time to remember how it is to flirt with possibility and change. To discover, with innocence and freedom. To delight with all your senses. To laugh and stride and play again.
Sactuary How do you create sacred spaces and sacred time in your day? Let’s go within and renew your connection to a sense of spaciousness in your emotional and spiritual bandwidth.
Do you know what it will feel like to live your life to its fullest?
NOW IS THE TIME.

what I mean by AN EXPERIENTIAL retreat
Le Monastère and Quebec City are our classrooms - epiphanies happen when we step into a fulsome and curated experience designed to engage our physical, creative, emotional, and spiritual selves. Layered learning experiences are gateways to self-discovery and joy. On this retreat, we will discover through:
GASTRONOMY
Better than a cooking class, how about an EATING class? We’ll practice mindfulness while delighting in the flavours of the farm-to-table kitchen, Le Vivoir!
WELLNESS ACTIVITIES
Daily wellness movement classes, guided meditation walks and self-guided reflections give us healing, creativity and an appreciation of this historic building and the surrounding city.
AWE-INSPIRING CULTURE AND HISTORY
Committed to rest and renewal and healing Les Augustines created the first hospital north of Mexico and the foundation of the health system in Quebec today. They were daring women, who believed in healing bodies and spirits. Their naturopathic gardens were legendary, their continued strategic thinking is exemplary as they continue to live their vows of service by offering us the chance to stay.
OLD WORLD DELIGHT
Quebec City will transport you immediately to the Old World with its cobblestoned charm and winding narrow streets. Come step into another landscape where we can forget the garish light of our screens and immerse in the view that will take your breath away.
where we will stay
A haven of peace in the heart of the city, Le Monastère des Augustines is part of the historic Hôtel-Dieu de Québec monastery, one of the most important classified heritage sites within Old Quebec — itself a world heritage site. Respectfully restored, the original buildings blend harmoniously with the new construction’s contemporary architecture.
The site’s heritage value stems from its European architectural tradition, perimeter wall, vast garden dating to 17th century New France, and the powerful social role it played right from the beginning.
The Cloisters have been sensitively restored and redesigned. Le Monastère offers its guests a unique experience in holistic health, along with a rare opportunity to connect directly with the Augustinian Sisters’ remarkable heritage.
It welcomes people of all cultures and beliefs and is proud to operate its facilities sustainably.
